I have been reading through the data sheets at Freescale and I was wondering. Could we remove the MK20DX128VLH5 and put the Mk20DX256VLH7 in its place?
According to the fact sheet the 256VLH7 has double the flash and 4 times the sram. The footprints are the same and the pin layout is the same other then the 256VLH7 having more functions on a few pins.
Has anyone else considered this? Would there be any glaring downsides to upgrading the uChip? Other then a cost increase?

Thoughts, comments, beat-downs welcome :D

Perhaps we're looking at the Teensy 3++ right there.... tasty! Between the dual 16bit SAR ADCs (yeah, OK, maybe only 13 IRL, but still!) AND a built in PGA... yum yum.

Actually, Teensy++ 3.0 is planned with an even more capable, soon-to-be-released chip. All the info I have is under NDA, so I can't discuss the technical details until Freescale publishes the datasheet on their website.

Thats a good question and one of the reasons I looked for a drop in replacement for the current uController in the Teensy 3.0.

While it should be possible for you to buy a teensy3 and rework the board with a 256VLH7 instead, I think asking Paul to do it for you is a bit much. I think he has enough on his plate without him building custom hardware for people as well.

Qumefox, I asked if it was possible. I don't recall asking anyone to do it for me.

And if Paul says there is something in the works already I can wait. My current project will take at-least 6 months to plan and build.

Look forward to the Teensy 3++ whenever it comes out. No need for details, all I need to know is that you're behind it as that guarantees technical excellence and follow-on support. Best of luck with that and all the other aspects of the Teensy 3 evolution.
