Thanks for AltSoftSerial; I'm using it to connect an Adafruit Ultimate GPS and an Atmega 328p on a Veroduino board,
with the TinyGPSPlus library, and the whole thing went together in a couple of hours. Feed the result into gpsd,
connect up to OpenStreetMap, and suddenly I've got geolocation.
(An earlier attempt with (New)SoftwareSerial wasn't too successful, btw. Probably could have made it work if I'd tried harder.)
