View Full Version : Serial Flash Audio with u-law or possibly a 512 Mbit N25Q512A13G?

I'm playing audio from serial flash on a W25Q128FV but don't have enough space.

Is it possible to use any smaller format than simply 16-bit RAW? I tried 8-bit and 8-bit u-law with no luck.

Also, I saw someone mention using a N25Q512A13G for memory on the audio shield.

Would something like this work as a simple replacement for the W25Q128FV?

I went ahead and ordered the N25Q512A13GF840E from Digi-Key. Hopefully it works! :)

Not sure if this list would be the same for the Audio board?

You might also look at the MP3 and AAC decoding library Frank published some time ago. It imposes some CPU usage issues, but if you can work with that, 1 megabyte becomes 1 minute of good audio with MP3, or even better compression with AAC.
