Hi All.

My plan is to use the Teensy 3.2 and the Audio Board. I want to use accelerometers to control lights and sounds, possibly servos too. I figure the Teensy 3.2 will work for that since there are more than enough analog inputs. I would like to use these speakers (https://www.adafruit.com/product/1314) to play the sounds. I see that the Audio Board has a head phone jack but how would I connect an amp to wire the speakers to? I haven't found anything yet for how to connect an amp to the line out section. Thank you for your help!

You'll need an amplifier to drive the speaker. PJRC make this one, which is meant to be used with the DAC pin, so the audio shield isn't required.

This fits on top or underneath your Teensy 3.2 and gives you amplified output to drive that sort of speaker pretty well.

Adafruit makes a similar products, which can probably take either the DAC signal or the line-level output of the audio shield. This one is very affordable.

But one downside on this product is the default gain is quite high. They give you a pot to turn the signal down, but with so much gain you'll probably have to turn it way down.

Adafruit also has a really nice stereo amplifier board and it has software control of its volume, and the default is about right for line level to drive those speakers about as loud as they'll reasonably go.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the response. I did check into the prop shield but I don't think the 8mb will be enough for the sounds I have in mind. That is why the Audio shield seemed like a better idea with the sd card. I will get one of the amps from adafruit to use with the audio shield. I'm just trying to figure out what needs to be connected to the amp for sounds. I assume it is the L R and G in the Line Out section of the board. Does the fact that there are 2 L and 2 R mean anything? Is there a guide to wiring the line in/out headers to an amp? Thank you for your help!
