Teensy 4.1 - Adafruit Airlift Featherwing Co-Processor FTP Server not opening Port 21

I finally gave up with ESP32-Airlift, I beleive it (actually its NINA code) to be fundamentally flawed. I found that Adafruit's ATWINC1500 based module works perfectly, at least in my application, with the good old WiFi101 library. I can get reliable data rates of over 800KB/s and no random...

Teensy 4.1 - Adafruit Airlift Featherwing Co-Processor FTP Server not opening Port 21

Thanks for trying. If you've time for some more tests pls try the AP_SimpleWebServer example sketch - that should certainly work, also do you have the Airlift's GP0 pin connected? This is not optional for server applications. I have mine connected to Teensy's GPIO40, be sure to add this to the...

Teensy 4.1 - Adafruit Airlift Featherwing Co-Processor FTP Server not opening Port 21

Thanks for responding... Can I refer you to this thread: https://forum.pjrc.com/threads/72669-Airlift-Wifi-simple-web-server-problem in which I present a sketch based on the AP_SimpleWebServer example that tries to transfer a 2MB jpg instead of just two lines of text. And yes, all the example...

Teensy 4.1 - Adafruit Airlift Featherwing Co-Processor FTP Server not opening Port 21

Histogram of results from 289 runs of 2MB transfers showing KB/s (x) vs frequency of occurrance (y) Mean: 82 KB/s, but a few samples seen at > 400KB/s. Theoretical max: 1MB/s

Teensy 4.1 - Adafruit Airlift Featherwing Co-Processor FTP Server not opening Port 21

These observations were all made using a Samsung/Android/Chrome client. I've now tried an x86/ubuntu/firefox client with apparently more variable results. The overall transfer speed is pretty much entirely governed by how often a retry (with its associated 300ms delay) in WiFiClient::write() is...

Teensy 4.1 - Adafruit Airlift Featherwing Co-Processor FTP Server not opening Port 21

My reading was that yes it worked but only fairly slowly. In my case the best data rate I can get whilst guaranteeing that a 2MB file makes it through in one piece is ~40s/MB (25KB/s) - way too slow for my application. I'll continue to poke around in the code looking ways to speed it up. Thanks...

Teensy 4.1 - Adafruit Airlift Featherwing Co-Processor FTP Server not opening Port 21

wwatson So do you know of an alternative WiFi solution for the Teensy that actually works? FYI I found version 1.8.15-1 of WiFiNINA_generic by @khoil-prog here: https://github.com/khoih-prog/WiFiNINA_Generic/releases/tag/v1.8.15-1. Sadly it contains several fundamental programming logic errors...

Teensy 4.1 - Adafruit Airlift Featherwing Co-Processor FTP Server not opening Port 21

That fix above appears to be a duplication of the fix already in WiFiClientGeneric.cpp, however I'll apply it to my code and see what happens. I would like to see faster WiFi speeds than 200KB/s (ie 1.6Mb/s) as I need to be shifting some quite big files and I'll be running on a battery, I...

Teensy 4.1 - Adafruit Airlift Featherwing Co-Processor FTP Server not opening Port 21

Just re-read this thread, looks like I'm having a very similar issue but with a web server (AOT ftp server) pls see https://forum.pjrc.com/threads/72669-Airlift-Wifi-simple-web-server-problem . I have now tried also the WiFiNINA_generic v1.8.14-5 library and I can only get it to reliably...

Airlift Wifi simple web server problem

Hi, I'm using a Teensy4.1 with an ESP32-AirLift breakout board Arduino wired like this: BUSY/RDY p9 GP0 p40 CS/SS p10 MISO p12 MOSI p11 SCLK p13 (note also built-in LED) Adafruit's AP_SimpleWebServer example sketch works perfectly, once you move the LED to a...

Using USB host port to read/write USB memory (MSC)

Using USB host port to read/write USB memory (MSC)

Yes the star _was_ there in @wwatson's original code (see this thread post#2), by mistake I surmise. I just tried it again with FASTRUN but without the star: the USB -> SD-card transfer speed has improved to 7.1, but is still shy of the non-FASTRUN speed of 7.4MBps.

Using USB host port to read/write USB memory (MSC)

FYI I replaced this line: FASTRUN uint8_t* buf[BUF_SIZE]; with just uint8_t buf[BUF_SIZE]; and it improved all the speeds, especially the USB -> SD transfer speed (which is what concerns me) from 6.6 to 7.4 MBps. Not sure what FASTRUN is supposed to do here?

How to Reset/Restart Teensy 3.5 using sotware

Anyone know if this would work for Teensy4.1, I'm guessing not in which case is there a way to re-start a T4.1 from code.

    no header files found warning

Thanks, I'm pretty sure it was to do with IDE loosing track of libraries across multiple project locations. The answer was to keep all project folders in the same place. Sorry to have bothered you with this.

    no header files found warning

OK, I'm finding now that if I open a new sketch and copy my code into it THEN I get the tooltip help pop-ups BUT if I save it to my (non-standard) projects folder then all of a sudden tool-tip help just stops. Looks like this is an IDE thing, nothing to do with Teensy or its libraries - but...

    no header files found warning

I've noticed now that after this update I'm no longer getting tool-tip info or pop-up completion hints on the IDE, not sure why this should be, Google seems to be of little help, wonder if I could seek your advice on this too. Thanks. Just found that if I load an example file the tool-tip stuff...

After a recent Arduino IDE upgrade (to 2.1.0) I'm seeing this warning: Should I be worried? Stuff still seems to compile ok.

Purpose of P MOSFET on T4's circuit vs the dual diode on T3.5's circuit?

The mostfet will have significantly lower voltage drop (and therefore lower power dissipation / power wastage) than the diode while still providing reverse voltage protection.

    USBHost.end()

To answer my own question, the hack presented here seems to work, but I'd prefer something cleaner if anyone has any ideas #include <USBHost_t36.h> // Setup USBHost stuff USBHost usbMSC; USBDrive msDrive1(usbMSC); USBFilesystem usbPartn(usbMSC); void setup() { // Start...

    USBHost.end()

Is there some way of closing down the USB host port once my code has finished accessing an MSC device to save power. At the start of my code I use usbHost.begin(), I'd like to know if there's anything like usbHost.end() which would amongst other things cut power to the usb host port. I see from...

Teensy 4.1 deep sleep and watchdog

For anyone else finding this thread I can confirm that my Teensy4.1 draws 6mA from 5V in deep sleep, so if you also have a battery application don't waste your time.

Using USB host port to read/write USB memory (MSC)

Some more info: the CardInfo.ino example sketch - _with_ const int chipSelect = BUILTIN_SDCARD; edited in - also fails to initialise the SD card. So I tried another card, a Kingston 64GB formatted with exFAT / FAT64 and it worked! Both the Kingston (good) and SanDisk (bad) cards are Class10 U1...

Using USB host port to read/write USB memory (MSC)

Well top marks for remembering that! FYI, here's a couple of snippets from the verbose compile-time output, just to confirm which SD lib is being used: Using board 'teensy41' from platform in folder: C:\Users\Steve\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\teensy\hardware\avr\1.58.0 Using core 'teensy4'...

OK, thanks again for your valuable WiFi help, that thread made fascinating reading, great to see how you guys operate! Afraid I've hit a bit a problem with your USB/SD-card example code, it starts off well, correctly listing the files on the USB memory stick but then I get: Initializing SD...

Using USB host port to read/write USB memory (MSC)

My brand new Teensy4.1 board should be arriving tomorrow & I'm looking forward to testing out your example code! Thinking further ahead, is there a recommended way of adding BlueTooth and WiFi capabilities to the Teensy - perhaps the ESP32-Airlift breakout board from Adafruit? My application...

Using USB host port to read/write USB memory (MSC)

Sound advice, thanks. Just to confirm: you use the standard USB port for comms with the Aduino IDE and the external 5-pin USB port connector for the USB memory stick?

Using USB host port to read/write USB memory (MSC)

@wwatson: Thanks so much for your incredibly helpful response. The timing data you supplied is amazing ~8MB/s - I tried something similar on a RPi Pico and clocked just 64KB/s. Brilliant!

Using USB host port to read/write USB memory (MSC)

Hi, I'm investigating using the Teensy4.1 in a project which must essentailly copy/delete jpg image files from a usb memory stick (that gets randomly inserted and removed to/from the Teensy's USB host port) to a local SD card archive and then uploaded via a WiFi connection to the cloud. I would...
