Hi guys,

Its my first time using external power.

I am desgining a new PCB in which I will have lots of RGB leds and potentiometers and I will need the multiplexer.

Here I designed this power input with a 2.1mm Barrel Jack, a fuse, a diode for reverse polarity protection, and then a 5V rail for the multiplexers and possibly other ICs that need 5V. After the 5v rail I have two capacitors in parallel as a wide band filter and then I go in to Teensy VIN.

Does this schematic make sense?

Any feedback appreciated.

1n5817 has max current of 1A . Depending on how many LEDs you use this might be OK, or not. An addressable RGB diode can easily consume >20mA. So if you had 50 of them, it would be 1A.
