External power and USB data

I have my Teensy 4 connected to a data acquisition system. For a variety of reasons, I'd like to power the Teensy with an external power source. But I also need to transfer data through USB. If I cut the trace on the bottom of the Teensy PCB, will I still be able to transfer USB data but power the Teensy with an external 5V power supply?

Yes, data transfer still works when there's no load on the USB Host's power.
