Forum server limited connectivity, July 2026

Our forum server has experienced limited connectivity since July 4. If you've seen slow performance or the site occasionally offline, it's not spam bots this time. Apparently a fiber optic cable was accidentally cut, forcing the server hosting company to utilize alternate connections for all internet traffic. The best info so far is "the fiber cut incident is related to broader power-outage incident emerging from a storm affecting 150k homes across NJ and NY" and "work on restoring the fiber lines has been complicated by powerline obstructions".

The main PJRC site is hosted from a separate server in Florida, USA. Only the forum server located in New York, USA is affected.

Another update from the server hosting company: "Our upstream provider has informed us that their fiber construction team is coordinating with the local utility company to prioritize repairs at the affected site. The damage was caused by downed trees and utility poles, and the utility company has provided an estimated arrival time of approximately 11:00 PM ET to begin their work."

Hopefully we'll be back to normal tomorrow...

Connectivity should be back to normal now.

Last update from the server hosting company: "We have received confirmation from our upstream provider that all repair work has been completed and that network services have been fully restored."
