Hey everyone, first project that reached a music festival, featuring a geometric steel structure with led tubes attached to it.

The entire thing was pixel mapped using a 3d model of the arch and Touch designer and a Brix mini computer for size in a 3d printed enclosure that repelled rain and unwanted elements while allowing plenty of airflow.

The minicomputer used serial/usb to communicate with a teensy 3.1 which acted as a buffer between touch designer and the led's and used the octows2811 library and adapter board as well.

I put this together in 8 days and setup the computer to start when it received ac power for a fully automated, animation cycling, install that required no user input through its use.

Check out this short but high quality video of the arch in action:

also - the hat in the background of the last image is an earlier project of mine that uses the the teensy 3.1 and the octo library as well - more here: :)

Thanks Paul!

Actually I only used about a foot of cat6 and cut / crimped it to the thicker matte black cables coiled on the table next to it, merging data and power into one cable. There were 8 of those 10 ft extension cable to go from the box to led's using some basic 12 awg 3 conductor with anderson power poles on both ends for quick connect / disconnect and high current capabilities.

I've tested around 30-40 feet powering ws28xx's using that method and it seems to hold it's own pretty well. Although now I try to centralize the psu and keep the runs down to 10-15 ft max
