I have gone over and over my code, tried several 4.1 boards but they all reboot whenever I remove then insert an SD card after initialization. Im trying to make sure I have hot-plug SD support but so far only seems to work if the card is present at boot. Any ideas?
I had same problems a year ago. It was a card that had high peak currents, and a 5v to T4 power supply that could not give more than ~150 mA to that 5V line.
ohhh man your right, I dug up a Samsung card and it did not happen, Sandisk, SP and TK (whatever that is) they all failed but the Samsung worked. Thank you
I'm thinking along the lines of PC USB issue combined with the draw of particular cards might just tip the scales. I ordered a 48W capable USB PCIE x16 USB host card to see if the SD cards show the same behavior with that as the controller/power.
Simpler and (usually) better way to assure plenty of power is with a powered USB hub.
Avoid unpowered hubs. They have very limited power output, since they need to power themselves and all the things you plug into them from the USB cable connection to your PC.
