Hello Paul!
The Enttec DMX USB Pro protocol spec is here...
http://www.enttec.com/docs/dmx_usb_pro_api_spec.pdf
Regarding your 2nd question about "will this end up being used only on non-PJRC Leonardo boards?"
My original vision has been to post on our DMX/RDM Shield product page...
1) Here is the shield being used with a Leonardo R3 (schematic, software examples, etc)
2) Here is the shield being used with a Teensy2 (schematic, software examples, etc)
3) Here is the shield being used with a Teensy3 (schematic, software examples, etc)
4) Here is the shield being used with a Raspberry Pi (schematic, software examples, etc)
5) Here is the shield being used with a TI Launchpad (schematic, software examples, etc)
6) Here is the shield being used with a BeagleboneBlack (schematic, software examples, etc)
7) Here is the shield being used with a Freescale Freedom (schematic, software examples, etc)
The above vision is pretty lofty and probably will not happen like that. I was just commenting to Edgar this morning that one of the things that keeps pulling me back to the Teensy2 and Teensy3 platforms is because Paul has such a wonderful Software base, software skills, quick driver/library releases, constant software support, etc. (In many ways much better than Arduino itself). I can make an ethically binding promise to you that "If you and others put a lot of work into help us" on the Teensy2 platform that we can feature the Teensy2 solution as the preferred solution because of the software. Edgar and I are both hardware guys and I keep no secret that we need software help. You let me know what you think is fair, because I think there is plenty of room for creative collaboration here (not just with this product, but with others to come which perhaps combine DMX and Pixel Drivers).
Also, just last night I was catching up on your forum posts and noticed you talking about asking for help testing the new DMX simple. We could definitely work with you on that... and even feature the Teensy2 / DMX simple combination on our shield page. I can even post pictures/videos of it in action controlling large scale lighting rigs. I/we do large scale interactive lighting exhibits throughout the year with several more scheduled throughout the next year. At some point I would like to make mass produced products for the garden & home landscaping market, but for the foreseeable future we are staying in this Prototyping/Tinkering realm of shields and development boards.
I look forward to your thoughts online or offline. I really respect all that you do and I agree that you should benefit ethically and financially for your hard work. You should have my cell# in your order history.
