Teensy 4.1 SD Card Breakout PCB - A Bad Idea?

Hi, I'm using a Teensy 4.1 and I've run out of pins! (Welcome to the club right?).

I was going to MUX additional pins, but they will be used in a project with multiple LCD displays as the CS pins. My concern is the MUX delay may cause havoc with the screens. Haven't tested things yet, still thinking through stuff.

So my question is, is it a ridiculous idea to make a small breakout PCB that fits into the Teensy 4.1 SD card slot, and from that small PCB have a connector to the main PCB so I can use the extra pins easily? Thus avoiding MUXing and possible timing issues etc?

Something like this, but without the additional SD card connector on top:

What is long-term reliability of such a thing, assuming the PCB has gold plated fingers and fits correctly into the slot? An accident waiting to happen, or something I could rely on for a product out in the wild?

Thanks for any feedback.

Mike
