Ok great. I just ordered that chip from Mauser hoping it was the same but now manufactured by NXP. Your message now confirms that.

Also, I think the bootloader is fine. Just the processor is overheating and shutting down. But if I do need to replace that as well I would need the larger one which says "discontinued".

The bootloader chip reads the MCU SN and locks itself to that MCU. If you get a new MCU you WILL need a NEW bootloader chip.
