Teensy Multi-Channel USB 48Khz audio

Hi All,
I am new to Teensy and Audio.
I am currently using ADAU1966 16 channel DAC with Teensy on a board from @ PaulStoffregen

I have tested this board with Teensy Audio Library and it works very well.

I was wondering if this same board can be used to stream Multi channel USB Audio from Mac. I ideally want 8 channel audio.
Is this possible with ADAU1966 + Teensy? or any other board?
 
Ah, the dream: plug in your Mac, pump out 8 channels of crisp 48kHz audio, and boom, instant surround sound magic. Reality check though: Teensy’s USB Audio implementation is more of a “two-speaker kind of party.” Anything more than stereo and you’re gonna be writing firmware like a NASA engineer. Bring snacks
