Will this combination work?

I have several Yun (Yún)'s and need Arduino IDE 1.5.4 or 1.5.5. Paul has said that when I open up his Teensyduino, Version 1.18, and begin installing, it will allow "next" button when it points to a directory where "where you extracted the Arduino Software".

He doesn't say where that typically is and he doesn't say whether I need an earlier version of the IDE or if 1.5.5 will work.

So... If I download raw stuff to /Downloads and unzip there (to a new directory /Downloads/Arduino), then run the installer there, or drag to the applications folder, which of those does he mean?

And what is the "acceptable" IDE version that 1.18 is compatible with???

(And how do I state, gently, that his installation page could use a little more clarity???)

Thanks for any suggestions.

Or... And, I have to run an EARLIER version of the IDE, is it possible to have both concurrent on a MAC? Would I need two Source code directories? /Documents/Arduino.old and /Documemts/Arduino?

You can run as many Versions of the Arduino IDE's as you want to in parallel.
Teensyduino is not (yet) compatible with Arduino 1.5.5. You'll need to install Arduino 1.0.5.

Not exactly sue war you mean with "raw stuff"

When you download an Arduino Version it'll be either a zipped file in your Download folder, unless it is set-up to unzip directly after download. Then you'll end up with a folder.
And, yes, you could just download the latest Release of Teesnyduino, which is an installer (dog file) and run it. When it asks you to point to the Arduino folder, you browse to the one in your Downloads folder and then The teesnyduino installer will start copying files into that.

He doesn't say ..... whether I need an earlier version of the IDE or if 1.5.5 will work.

Please direct your attention to the portion of the installer screen with in the red circle.

Right, you are... apologies.

It's all working!

Superfast builds, downloads.. Very cool. Love it. (At work, even incremental builds can take 15 mins, and downloading, booting can take another 10 mins.... but then again, that's on millions of lines of code...)

Sooo cool!
