Using external power supply on Teensy 4.0

Hello,

First time using a teensy board here.

I noticed the teensy board that I purchased on Digikey has already disconnected Vin and VUSB metal pads on the board. Not sure if Digikey vendor did that or the board design has changed. However, when I test the board, I can still power the board both with USB or an external 5v power supply independently. (I can see the flashing red light when I press the program button) So my question is can I use the external power supply while connected to PC? Seems the power is not separated even though the Vin and VUSB metal pads are not connected. Thanks!

Are you sure if you look very closely, there isn't a tiny join between them? That is the default design and it would not be possible to power the board via USB otherwise.

Seems that joint is already cut off. Below is the screenshot I took.

Doesn't look cut to me. The solder-mask covers the trace at that point.

Thanks Mark! Didn't know the joint is underneath the surface. Works now.
