Using headphone amp with pt8211

I'm working on a synthesizer project and considering integrating a headphone amplifier alongside the PT8211 DAC. The PT8211 will manage the line level output. For headphone output, I plan to connect a headphone amplifier IC to the line out signal from the PT8211. I'm looking at using a simple headphone amplifier IC like the LM4910. The plan is to make a little pcb that fits over the teensy 4.1, (like the current pt8211 audio kit but with headphone as well as line out). Would appreciate any suggestions or guidance anyone has on this, or if anyone has done similar things before how did it go!

Make sure you are using a diff-amp, as the headphone output is not referenced to the Ground pin, but a floating simulated ground.

The PT8211 does not have a floating GND. The output signal is referenced to GND, so you can use it like so:

@Lawrence - just my 2 cents worth, I would highly recommend I2S sigma-delta DAC like cheap PCM5102A (something like $3 on Ali) it sounds 100x better than PT8211.

Fully agree, but be aware that are a lot of fake PCM5102A chips available on chinese webshops [look for Burr&Brown logo on chip package for genuine parts].
The same applies for the PT8211 part; the PT8211-H part is fake, the PT8211-S is genuine.

That is interesting. I bought a couple from various "shops" on Ali and they all had BB logo, and they sounded good, but I am wondering
what stops fake makers from putting BB logo? And how do those "fakes" behave? They don't work at all? Or sound bad? Or....?

In contrast all PT8211 I tried sounded terrible. (Actually MQS output to basic 1-pole RC filter from Teensy 4 sounded better than PT8211 too me)
