So I have been using a Teensy 4.1 for well over a year now to act as the chipset for an i960 and have come up with what I would like to see in a teensy 4.2. Note, that I totally understand if some of these are unfeasible. All of these changes use the Teensy 4.1 as a base.
1. Grant access to micromod teensy pins 40, 41, 42, 43, 45 as well as the base teensy 4.1 pins
2. Drop the ethernet controller and break those 12 GPIOs out
2a. This idea comes from the fact that if I don't opt for the ethernet controller then those GPIOs go unused. I would like to be able to use those pins for other purposes.
3. Add the RTC battery plug that the Pi 5 uses.
3a. Having the Pi5 RTC connector means I can save space on my PCB having to route either a coin cell holder or this plug itself.
3b. The Pi5 RTC batteries are very easy to get a hold of on amazon.
4. Obviously USB-C in place of the micro-usb
I am also not dependent on the form factor of the teensy 4.1 so if it had to be lengthened or widened I would be fine with it.
