    The ethernet kit that PJRC sells for the 4.1 has a ribbon cable that is at least 4 inches, so I doubt 2 inches of PCB trace would be considered long. As Phil said: match the lengths.

    A quick look suggests to me there's an issue with your SPI select. I may be wrong. But GD2 appears to want either Arduino pin 8 or 9 for select, while it seems the Teensy 4.0 uses 10. I didn't trace out the path...
