Vindor Music has been working on a simple digital saxophone and clarinet for the educational market. Paired with online and mobile education software, it will make learning to play a wind instrument easier, cheaper and more entertaining. The digital saxophone has a Teensy 3.1 inside. On the Teensy, we use SPI (for the SD card), TSI (touch sensors for individual buttons), DAC (for the audio generation, including the fabulous audio library). There is a Freescale pressure sensor to measure breath and an amplifier/speaker. The shell is 3D printed and then sanded, filled and painted. Using the Teensy helped us cut prototype development time and cost substantially.

Here is an earlier prototype in a public performance at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge MA: https://youtu.be/w82k71lwsxQ (skip to 1:50 for the solo)
