Teensy 2 -- Program is too big when I remove code?!?

I have a Teensy 2 based product that is sitting at 99% program space usage. I literally have 4 bytes left.

I'm trying to make room to add a new feature, but I'm facing a peculiar situation. When I remove some old legacy code from the project, the entire program gets bigger and no long fits on the Teensy. How can this be possible?

We'll I'm just not going to post 32,254 bytes of code. Anyway, I managed to implement the feature and amazingly I still have 2 bytes to spare.
 
That is very strange indeed. Even with all the source code, it'd probably take quite a lot of effort to really learn why the code size went up.

Glad you found a solution.
