I ran into an interesting observation and I'm looking for some insight. I typically use this crystal for my Teensy 3.6 based custom projects:

But for my latest project, I used this one:

I switched in order to obtain a wider temperature range; however, I noticed that my board did not work with the NX3225SA-16.000M-STD-CRS-2. I switched the crystal to the NX3225SA-16.000000MHZ-B3 and the board works great. The load capacitance is similar (7.2 pF and 8 pF), which is why I thought that it would work fine. However, I'm just now noticing that the ESR is significantly higher on the NX3225SA-16.000M-STD-CRS-2 than the NX3225SA-16.000000MHZ-B3 (120 Ohm vs 80 Ohm) and am wondering if that's potentially causing the issues or if there's something else I missed.

You may have better luck with this question in an electronics design news group (ie. usenet). Sci.electronics.design, also available through Google groups is one such possibility.
