Hey everyone, I'm building a portable led display for a friend and I've come up with a size that seems pretty good for his dj setup, however the size * the led density i'm using will put the total led count at 3,840.
I have read on Octows2811 library page that the 3.1's are recommended at no more than 3,000 leds per teensy.. Since this is my first project of this scope I'm trying not to get too fancy with multiple teensy's and video sync since I'm under a bit of a tight time frame.
My questions are:
- Can the teensy 3.1 handle that extra 840 more with out too much of a drop in frame rate? (I'm going to be using serial communication from processing on mac)
- Do you think distortion due to update timing be enough to notice visually? (talking 480 led's per pin)
I'm totally considering dropping the width of the full setup from 5 panels wide to 4 panels wide if its a safer bet.
This is my current mockup / rough draft animation I've done in 3d, to give you an idea of what this will look like:

Many Thanks in advance!
