(HELP) Still not sure if i'm going to Kill my Teensy 3.1 with 5 V

Hi,

I'm sorry i am a bit new to this but,i just got my 3.1 and i suppose it might sounds stupid but i still don't understand if you can power a 3.1 Teensy with a 5V external power source (non USB) without killing it. i'm saying this because since i read this post by Paul Stoffregen

From what i understand there is a way to kill your teensy by using 5v, but i am still not sure if he means that "the switch" would kill it or if something else would kill it or if a simple 5V power source (non USB) would kill it ?
 
Yes, if you connect your 5V power source to VIN (3.3 - 5.7V) and GND. If you scroll down on THIS page you'll find detailed pin outs of the Teensy. You should have received one as a card with your Teensy.
 
Headroom is right, you can safely power your Teensy 3.1 with 5V, using the VIN (3.7 to 5.5) pin.

Beware of the 3.3V pins. If you connect 5V to those, it'll instantly kill the board. Be careful.
