Audio Library and dynamic use of the SD card

I need to be able to remove and re-insert the SD card without a system reset. If the SD card is removed while playing, the play should just stop but other audio functions should be un-affected. If the card is re-inserted later, the software needs to automatically reconfigure and be prepared to play as if it was from a system reset. As far as I can tell, the software does not allow this now.
Any ideas?
