I'm fiddling with the forum server settings today, to enable secure https: access.

You can still access the forum with either http: (not secure) or https: (encrypted).

However, all the links now begin with "https://". Most browsers will probably require you to log in again upon accessing with https, if you're previously logged in using http.

The hosting service for the popular WiFi / LAN web site
http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/index.php

was hit with a denial of service attack last two days. Took them that long to stop the barrage, or the attackers stopped.
There was little/no access for most of 2 days - servers overwhelmed.

Maybe less likely on a smaller hosting service.

Well Kudos, It seems it was seamless for me this morning I didn't notice anything different unless for some reason accessing the Teensy forum was much faster than any other site this morning, pages loaded significantly faster than my other browsing. I generally browse on a laptop a little distance from the router and the link is not as good so slow loads are noticeable.

Thanks for doing this

I am finding various weirdities if I check the box to keep me logged in, go away for a period of time, and then come back to see if there are any new posts.

Sometimes I am still logged in as before, and all is cool.

Sometimes I am not logged in, and I have to re-log back in, even though I've only been away an hour or so. However, the redirect page from the login is invalid, but if I go back to the forum link, everything is fine.

Sometimes I am still logged in, but all of the icons on the left side indicate there are new posts to read. Even if I go into the forums, and use the mark thread read, and go back to the top level, and hit refresh, all of the forums indicate unread posts.

I use Google chrome on an old Fedora 11 system, but it is a back level version (26.0.1410.63-192696). Note, I read pjrc.com from several systems (Fedora 11, Fedora 19, and RHEL 6.5).

Michael, any change you've got a bookmark or link that still points to a URL beginning "http://"

I have a few. Just used one now, and indeed I wasn't logged in when accessing using "http:", but as soon as I click any link within the forum, it goes to "https://" and I'm logged in again.

Maybe it's time to turn on automatic redirect from http: to https: ?

Yes, my bookmark was to http://. I've switched it to https:// and it works better. I did do a log off, log back on sequence, but I didn't go so far as to delete any pjrc.com cookies manually.
