@dannlank, that looks great, any chance of a still image of the rotation?

I used the "fireworks" setting on my wife's camera and was able to get some decent shots in a darkened room:

those apa102 look good, thanks for the still image. Makes it possible to see that we finally have a strip that can do the job. The TeensyLC will be perfect for this type of project.
I guess that the colour shift is due to a non-corrected dimming of the RGB values?

I've built a controller box that contains a Teensy 3.1 and some other modules, plus another box for the power. The boxes have been built using my latest toy: a 3D printer.
