Pin 17 and DMA on Teensy LC

On the Teensy LC, what is the best way to drive a string of WS28xx LEDs through pin 17's 5V output with DMA? I want to drive a short string of LEDs, about 10, but I want the CPU to do other things with low latency, not sit around banging bits.

OctoWS2811 does not use pin 17. FastLED does not use DMA (I think).

I could leave pin 17 in high impedance and jumper its 3V pad to another pin that OctoWS does use. Would that work?

Is there a better way?

tldr; you are correct. Physically connect whichever pin you want to use to 17 on the side, then connect the 5v 17 on the end to your LEDs. Just don't do anything with pin 17 in your code and it will work.
