It's good to see a fellow sim builder!

Here is my friend's 747-400 sim which I've done most of the electronics on:

sim2.jpg

I've got a few Teensy 3.1's in there, with another 4 planned. This is in addition to many USB boards to enable every switch and indicator in the flight deck to work.

2 of the Teensy's is converting ARINC 429 to ethernet...

TCAS (transponder panel)

Another is converting an aerospace serial bus to ethernet...

ACP (audio control panel)

Seeing the results of it all working in situ is very satisfying:

We also have a live video feed during events, our next event is on the 7th - 9th August:

Thanks all! I'm probably gonna need 10 more before it is said and done. Luckily for me the era of aircraft i'm building has no ARINC429, or any bus data to speak of. All analog signals that I simulate by using Teensy's to either drive steppers to turn synchro xmitter's or PWM output. Of course the standard I/O for switches and lamp controls as well. My only complaint so far wit the Teensy is that during program upload, the outputs go active and it really jacks with my Sim sometimes when stuff activates when it shouldn't.

TronicLabs, I am using X-Plane 10.40b5 and FlyJSim 737-200 add-on

macaba, thanks for the offer and I will take you up on that soon.

Rob

I never noticed that behavior. Perhaps your hardware is sensitive to "no input" and you forgot pulldowns ? As far as i know the pins are in an inactive state during programming (and they are not outputs!): Neither HIGH nor LOW.

Yeah, except for pins 3 and 4 on Teensy-LC, the pins should all become high impedance during uploads.

Just add 10K resistors between the pin and GND if you want the signal to be low during upload, or between the pin and VCC if you want it to be high during upload.

How's it going, Rob? Were you able to test the new version of the plugin?

Hey Jorg, Been on call this week for work so spare time the last 3 days has been zero. Hope to test in next few days.

Paul, Thanks I will do that. I am driving a relay board with a teensy so I will try the 10k resistors.

Rob, if you find an issue with the new plugin, could you test it side-by-side on an X-Plane 10.36 installation? 10.40 is still beta, and they still seem to struggle with some performance issues (http://developer.x-plane.com/2015/07/x-plane-10-40-beta-5-is-out/):

We investigated a bunch of performance complaints since we fixed the prop disc slow-down and nothing has been reproducible. If you think you see a performance problem, please get two clean side-by-side demos (10.36 and 10.40b5) and then add your add-ons to both in lock-step to create a good test case. If you isolate a performance problem that way, then file a bug.
