Using FlexCAN + OctoWS2811 Library...Possible?

Hi all,

I've recently purchased a Teensy3.1 & WS2811 RGB LED Strips with the intent of creating cool exterior lighting on a car.
One of the attractions of the Teensy3.1 was the fact that it featured CAN connectivity via pins 3 & 4 on the Teensy.

However, the OctoWS2811 library that we are planning on using, specifically mentions that pin 4 cannot be used (think it hosts DMA event).
Is it possible to utilise pin 3 & 4 for CAN as well as use the OctoWS2811 Library?

The initial plan was to create a CAN network in the car, where a central gateway can control various functions round the car, including the lighting.
This question is really for Paul Stoffregen (I didn't know how to message you directly... ) or anyone who has used this library before.
