    shortwave radio simulation

A friend is restoring the cabinet of a floor-standing radio from 1937. He's not interested in restoring the radio itself, but would rather simulate the radio functions by playing MP3 clips of historical broadcasts. Changing the tuning dial would select a different program.

I'm tasked with the shortwave radio simulation. Just playing the MP3 clips is not too difficult, but I'd like to add various sound effects. I can fade in/out white noise, add some 60Hz hum, even make a squeal using the sine_fm block.

What I'm looking for is something that simulates a slightly-off tuned single side band broadcast. Maybe the flanger & delay line mixed back into the input as an echo loop?

Has anyone attempted a project similar to this?
