Good work - fun story - nice you got it done! Nice work on the 3D prints and cleaning them up to look so good. I recently got silicon wires too and it seems better as noted - superfine flexible core and covering - that doesn't burn off and bare wires.

Only bummer was reading this 'I ran into a little Adafruit hate there. ' ... not sure where that was? Adafruit is great for all they do ... hopefully they'll take your pull request promptly and make their hardware work better. If I'm on the right thread I suggested an alternative that might drop in and work - and it did ... and didn't. The dev behind that probably would have loved seeing it work - but hasn't been typing for 8 months as noted.
