hi
can this setup work safely to connect an external power to the teensy ( 5v 2 amps ) and still have at the same time Usb connection to a computer ( Midi usb to use ) and some level of protection to the usb port on the laptop

I have done some search in the forums and there is a few recommendations but the terminology used is a bit new to me.

here is a image to illustrate the idea.

if this does not work what would you recommend

thanks

If you never need to power the Teensy from USB, I think you can just cut the connection between the VUSB and VIN nets. Connect power supply directly to VIN. No need for either of the diodes.

thanks.
during development I still need to power via usb.
I guess the diodes are for extra protection? I do not want to toast my laptop. ( planning to run some neopixels + sensor on the same project ) and have it connected via usb for midi sounds.

thanks in advance.
