Removing files from the core library

Hi there. I'm currently working on a project using the teensy 3.2 device and I would like to use the core library. To keep the codebase on my project small, could I remove source files that I don't require such as DMA and i2c? I'm not edited the source code itself. I mainly need code for driving the pins and serial printout.
