Unable to compile under windoze

Bad dreams do come true - Arduino IDE + windoze, so hat in hand time...

Setting up a high school lab for the summer embedded seminar. Teensyduino and libs installed and running ok on the Linux boxes, but not able to get the windoze boxes to compile the blink code. Where in windoze can the newlib versions be verified? GCC version problem?

That's not what you have installed. If you had, you would have this:

Did you manually copy stuff? It seems you have a very old WProgram.h (Jan 2016) and a new toolchain.

Was also looking at this and being confused, but as am very ignorant of windows as a dev platform, did not expect that old stuff would be installed from a recent (26June) download of this stuff. In any case, installed per https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/td_download.html using the install execs.

And versions per the arduino-generated error listing conforms to what was downloaded and what arduino help says is installed per this:

Indeed, somehow you ended up with a bad install.

Another possible cause is some anti-malware software many have interfered with the installer. Sadly, preventing writing lots of data is becoming more common on Windows as these programs try to prevent ransomware from changing your files. You may need to temporarily disable whatever anti-malware software you're running to get a good install.

did not expect that old stuff would be installed from a recent (26June) download of this stuff.

The 1.37 installer does not have any copy of those older files. The only plausible explanation is you had successfully run an older installer, then ran version 1.37 but it somehow didn't manage to overwrite all the old files.

Should we uninstall, download ardy and teensyduino, and install again?

Yes. You might also need to disable anti-virus or anti-malware protection. The installers do not use the internet, so you can download both and fully disconnect from the network to run them while your protections are turned off.

FWIW, I have Teensyduino running fine on my Win7 box with VS2017 Community Edition and Visual Micro. I have been able to install & run sketches on a variety of Arduino products, including Trinket and Teensy SBC's. I'll be glad to help if I can
