Remove device from I2C

I have two devices on a single I2C bus and made a mistake when I was configuring them. They're soldered through hole in a PCB. So I have access to the device's pins, and I'd like to isolate one of the devices. Are there any tricks I can do short of desoldering the second device? For example, can I pull down the SCL and SDA lines of the device I do not want on the bus?

Depends on the chips. Many I2C chips have one or more pins which configure a bit in their I2C address. If the chips you used have such a pin, the simplest mod would look like just cutting the trace and wiring that pin to the opposite logic level.

snip the data SDA line, you can leave the SCL alone, or drop in an analog switch if you want to use it one day ;)
