OctoWS2811 Wiring Question

Hello, i need your help to know how to wire my led strip with the octows2811.

My current setup killed my teensy afther some time....

here is how i want to wire my next setup i want to use a 5v phone charger to avoid current from the led to come back to the teensy and fry it again.

Do you think your 100W supplies spiked above 6.5V to kill your teensy?
For what it's worth (not much) I think your usb charger method is ok.

I'm sure there is simple way to prevent damage to teensy if your first method is more convenient than the extra 5V supply (usb charger).

to be honest i think its the rain last night that did it i got i small shock when touching the usb plug im sure its not 5v that can do this. I would like to keep the teensy inside with a single cat5 cable going outside. i will also redo my electrical wiring and add protection to my power supply even if the are supposed to be water proof.

Usually a shock you can feel requires a lot more than 5 volts!

Something may be very wrong, which could be dangerous. LEDs and Teensy can be replaced. You can't. Please, be safe and careful. It you're able to feel a shock, it may be a sign something is very dangerously wrong.
