trying to upgrade teensyduino

I'm currently running Arduino 1.6.11 and Teensyduino 1.32 beta 1, on Ubuntu 16.04 64bit.

When I try to install Teensyduino 1.40 i get the following error: Sorry this did not work no file_to_app results to show.

any suggestions?
 
Teensyduino 1.40 does not support Arduino 1.6.11. When you run the Teensyduino installer, the intro screen says which versions of Arduino is supports. You'll need to download one of the supported Arduino versions from Arduino.cc. Extract it in a location you can remember, then run the installer again and select the fresh copy of Arduino.

If you're still getting strange errors, please give us a screenshot of the error. Remember, we can't see your screen, and small details can really matter.
 
got it..
updated IDE, then i forgot that i had to go to a terminal and go to the downloads folder and do these commands:

joe@joe-System-Product-Name:~$ cd /home/joe/Downloads
joe@joe-System-Product-Name:~/Downloads$ chmod 755 TeensyduinoInstall.linux64
joe@joe-System-Product-Name:~/Downloads$ ./TeensyduinoInstall.linux64
