Pixel flickering - maybe reflextion?

Hi all,
we built a LED array which is controlled by a teensy 3.6 with a Octo 2811 shield and is flashed with the Octows2811 library (https://github.com/PaulStoffregen/OctoWS2811). The array itself consists of 7680 WS2812b leds in a 120 x 64 pixel matrix. Each line is spread over 2 panels and has 16 rows of 1m strips with 60 leds each. Every single line is powered by a 300W 60A power supply (see appended image).

Our problem is, that depending on frame rate and brightness, as well as total active leds we experience strange flickering. This flickering only affects the last few leds of the line (which spans over multiple rows). The flickering seems to always shift the color by a certain amount, as well as turning the brightness up to 100%. When we reduce the leds per line to 280 and below, the flickering stops.

We already checked:
- the software (different libraries)
- resistors at the end
- reducing the amount of active leds (it seems like it gets better with less amounts)

We are out of ideas what the reason can be. Current etc. seems to be OK.

Has anybody any ideas what could cause our problem? Any hint ist appreciated!

The video shows a part of our LED Matrix with a small sketch which skips every 500ms from green to red:
