Hi all,

I wonder if it is possible to connect two Teensys via I2S? What I want to do:
- One Teensy with MIDI-IO generates the audio (=synth, I2S-out)
- The other one gets the signal (I2S-in) and adds effects (filters, reverb, chorus, flanger, ...)

Is this possible? Or is there a better way to send audio data from one Teensy to another?
What to do if I want to use n Teensys for audio generation and one for mixing them (digital) up and adding effects?

Thanks, Holger

This falls into the realm of stuff that should work, but so far nobody as tried. Or if they have, nobody has said anything, as far as I know.

To make this work, one Teensy would need to use I2S master mode and the other I2S slave mode. Don't confuse this with transmit & receive. The master is the side which generates the clock signals and the slave makes its clock pins as inputs, so its audio runs at whatever speed the master uses.

Hi Paul,

thanks for your answer. I think I will try this as soon as my next Teensy will arrive :) (and I will post my results here).

Regards, Holger
