Hi all,

Last fall I built and programmed the mainframe in Netflix's Maniac series using a Teensy 3.2 as the real "mainframe". It was a wild project done in less than 5 weeks. I'd like to thank Paul for a great platform and the rest of the community for all the help and resources that made it possible.

I ported my Arduino LED animation code to PHP and used a custom serial protocol to send the Teensy frame buffer data. This allowed me to quickly write and update animations to keep up with directorial whims. I then bit-banged the three panel columns' data at a frame rate that matched the camera. It also controlled the analog panel meters and the hard drive activity lights.

If you haven't seen the show, there are some clips on my website:

I was SOOOO impressed by this work when I watched the show to the point of distraction. Just beautiful.

Thanks for sharing some of the behind the scenes magic.
