I want to use a shaft encoder that can output up to 12v square wave
the 74HC4050 chip looks like it can be used to protect the pins and will take an overvoltage of 15v
https://www.hobbytronics.co.uk/datasheets/74HC4050.pdf
so i ordered a few up
using a signal generator and a bread board with a scope you can see the chip is doing its job
my target frequency is approx 35 khz
am I overcomplicating things here - will a simple 3.3v zener do the job ?
