    Teensy 3.2 life running on 12V external battery

    I have a teensy 3.2 running on a 12V lithium battery stepped down to 5v with a 94% efficient power switcher. When the teensy reads that the battery is at 12ish volts it goes into a low power mode loop (Thanks Duff!) where it sleeps for 30 to 50 seconds (depending on the voltage) then reads the voltage and repeats until the voltage is high enough for it to leave low power mode. There are no LED's on in low power mode and the only active pins are the ones reading voltages (there is another battery it reads but doesn't run on).

    This isn't really a software related question, as much as a, "I know nothing about electrical engineering and desperately need advice on how to optimize this thing" type of question;
    When the battery hits the low power mode the battery only lasts roughly 60 hours. Is that a reasonable value or is there a way to better improve the longevity of the battery?

    Hello Shadrach,

    It is not easy to answer your question because you give very little about your power setup.

    What kind of 12 V Lithium battery are you using determines how long you can run, is it 500mAh or is it 5000mAh does already make a big difference.

    Further, you say that it lasts roughly 60 hours. Is this enough for you or you need more or less? we have no clue what you need.

    To be able to help/inform you we need more information about your project and according forum rules including your program and maybe pictures?

    Regards, Otto
