Teensy 3.5 connecting I/O pins to each other

Hello everyone!
For example, can I connect pin 3 to pin 4 on the Teensy 3.5 and configure pin 3 as output and pin 4 as input?
It might sound illogical to connect the I/O pins of your Teensy to each other but I really need this for a project.
Do I kill the teensy with it or does it work?
