Hi all
a few months ago I wanted to start a new project which consists of some LED's to be used for music lighting.
I ended up with 8 parallel 50cm WS2812B strips, 4 RGBWW strips and a 256 pixel WS2812B panel.
Driving this all with a single Arduino Mega.
The main issue is speed, I wanted to have it linked to my PC over the virtual com port, so that I could use my keyboard to send command's to the lights.
Unfortunately the WS2812B LED's have a rather slow refresh rate, thus taking up a lot of controller time. Furthermore a correct timing was not available for music cues and the serial communication often got corrupted.
To prevent this, I was thinking about buying the octo WS2811 adapter and a teensy 4.0. The teensy would drive both the WS2812B's and the RGBWW's (12 V, with a driver circuit in between them).
Thoughts about this?
I would like to have a smooth experience of both the LED's and the response on serial communication.
Now that the festival summer is more or less gone, you have to make your own indoor festival!
