Hello everyone!

I am using Teensy 3.2
I want to connect it to my laptop using a USB cable for transferring data only, and power it from an external power source - 5v.
I connected the 5V power source to the GND and Vin pins.
And cutted the RED wire from the cable, which left only the white, green, and black connected.
Option #2: https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/external_power.html

My Arduino IDE or Ubuntu 18.04 doesn't recognize the Teensy 3.2 in the ports.
When I am using a regular USB cable (power from USB) its all OK.
Both cables are identical, came from the same supplier/brand/type.

what can be the problem ?

Best regards.

For starters, could you check the Vout of your power source to be actually 5V and reasonably stable?

Hey.
Yes, that was the first thing i checked using a multimeter, steady 5 V.
The power source is a power supply 220VAC to 5VDC It can supply more thatln 5 amps, so that will be more than enough to power the board.
I also disconnected all the sensors from it. So its only the Teensy 3.2.

I uploaded the blink sketch.
So when i power the teensy from the power source and my data cable (option#2) it seems working according to the sketch.

Could you try a different cable? Some USB cables are charging only, they're connected on the power pins/wires. and not the data pins/wires.

I'm lost. So it's working properly now, with external power source and data-only USB cable?
