SPI WiFI Module recommendations ?

Hi

So I've been playing with the Teensy 4.0 and the WIZ820io module and getting some pretty good results. However, I now want to switch to a WiFi link. Ideally I want the run the Teensy as an Access Point, rather than have it connect to a network. I have this working using an Adafruit ESP32 module, but I'm not getting very reliable throughput. I have been increasing timeouts and other elements of my communications routines but not getting great results. So I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for other SPI based WiFi modules?
