MIDI Synth for Windows - analogous to GarageBand on the Mac

I've been using GarageBand on the Mac for testing of my Teensy 3.2-based MIDI wind controller.

I'd like to do the same on Windows with the rough requirements:
- receive and play MIDI messages through USB MIDI
- be non-scary to install for a cautious Windows user - made by a company that many would recognize and trust.
- works with MIDI IN without much tinkering

What are people using on Windows that fits that description?
