I2S and I2C together

They are completely unrelated things, so why wouldn't they be completely independent? Every interface on a
microcontroller that's hardware supported is typically independent (other than competing for processor
time to handle any interrupts). On most I2S capable microcontrollers DMA is used to shunt the data around
making it almost transparent, since I2S is datapath rather than control/status signaling (I2C is the latter
usually).
