Serial Read/Write Teensy vs Arduino

Does the Serial.write() functions work different on Teensy versus Arduino. I have been running into some problems using a Serial gas sensor and am pretty sure it is due to the reads and writes being different.
In the documentation for arduino for write() it says, "This data is sent as a byte or series of bytes" versus for Teensy it says "Transmit a byte." Is there a way to send a series of bytes similar to Arduino?
